Mr. Nguyen Thanh Toan – Deputy General Director of The Superintendence and Inspection of Coffee and Products for Export and Import Joint Stock Company said that foreign companies purchasing Vietnamese coffee have stricter and stricter regulations on the quality of goods and more interested in wet, polished, non-black processed coffee; UTZ, 4C certified coffee… Roasters are more interested in geographical indications and coffee with origin branded “Ban Me Thuot”…

Meanwhile, currently, the quality of Vietnamese coffee is simply regulated, mainly based on black beans, the percentage of broken beans, the bean size…, so it does not reflect the true value. Therefore, the management agencies and export processing enterprises need to pay attention to and orient the export quality in line with the world market trends.

Particularly, according to Mr. Toan, in addition to traditional factors such as nutrition, sensory perception and non-toxicity, clients also require a number of other contents such as food safety and hygiene, production level of farmers, etc.
